Supervisory APRN
All APRNs in the state of FL are required to apply for this licensure.
The first process, and required for all APRNs regardless of pathway, is the Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) licensure. This is a supervisory licensure pathway with the credential of APRN. As a CNM, the Florida Board of Nursing licenses all CNMs as an APRN.
As an APRN in the supervisory pathway, the CNM is required to have a supervisory relationship with a physician (MD/DO) with signed protocols that are required to be kept on file at your clinical practice location(s).
There are two statutes and an administrative code in the state of Florida that are applicable to supervisory APRN:
Section 464.012: Certification of advanced registered nurse practitioners; fees.
Chapter 456: Health Professions and Occupations: General Provisions
Section 64B9-4: Board of Nursing
